happyThe neighbor finally released his cows into the land next to the trees. He is going to do grass fed cattle. I am very excited and the cows seem very friendly. He also confirmed that they spotted a mountain lion out at the land.
Pakistan Mulberry started producing fruit and the last freeze got em. I hope it comes back with more.
Jujube are still trying to push their buds out.
Asian pear are in full bloom.
Looks like a few Green Gage Plum took.
Katy Apricots not flowering this year.
Pineapple Quince is still flowering and we already have baby fruit.
I have been pigging out on Silverberries for the last two weeks.
I saw the first Fuyu persimmon flowers today.
Che has leafs on it.
Some White Sapote seeds popped up from last year in some pots I left outside.
Serviceberries are flowering.
Figs have baby fruit.

Here is a picture of a skull of a young Russian boar at the land. The big ones are 6-7 feet and 300+ lbs.

I tried some bud grafting tonight with Kumquat on Washington Navel, Asian Pear on Quince and Capulin Cherry on Mexican Plum.
I also planted some Kiwano Horned Melon seeds.
cheekyI took Granny out to the orchard today. She seemed the most impressed by all the Rye in the surrounding fields.
The Jujube are starting to bud out at home so the orchard should start budding in a few days. It is colder out there. The Persimmons are starting to leaf as well as the Pakistan Mulberries. I am a little disappointed in the Katy Apricot as they are in full leaf with no flowers. I still have Blenheim and Perfection in dormancy.
I visited the local community garden where I had donated a bunch of trees last year. They are looking good and the Hosui Pear is just about to flower.
At the home front, the Strawberry Guava, Surinam Cherry, Opal Avocado, Chilean Guava and White Sapote all seem to be coming back after the horrible freeze in January. My Washington Seedless Navel is doing just as good as the Satsumas which took 14 degrees with no problem.

a-okThe sun was great today. It hit 81 degrees and trees started budding out like crazy. The Fuyu Persimmon and Lang Jujube are showing some growth. I went out to the land and planted two pecans at the far end. I put the Tejocote and Che Fruit in the ground. I also threw some Jeruselum Artichoke around the old chicken coop.
I saw the first Goumi flower pop out today and the Mexican Plum is about to hit full bloom.
I looked at the paw prints out there again and I am not sure if they are a big cat or big dog. My dogs prints are not even close in size.
Speaking of which, Pippy the boxer stuck her nose in a fire ant pile. I had to tackle her and rub them off because she was just running and rolling.

cheekyI received a few new plants this week that I am excited about.
The first is Tejocote or Mexican Hawthorn. This is very popular in Mexico during XMAS for making punch. The fresh taste is kinda sour.
The next is Luma Apiculata. This is a Crape Myrtle relative that is more orange but produces a blueberry type fruit.
I received my first Honeberries which tend to be more Northern but I am going to try them in shade which they are fond of in hot areas.
Clove Currant is apparently a more heat tolerant currant that fills your yard with incredible smells before fruiting.
Mango and Sunflower Paw Paws. So my Paw Paw experiment continues. I have a few seedlings in the ground and I planted about a hundred seeds under the Mesquite at the farm to see if they can form a relationship.
Lots of Serviceberry. I really hope that the Amelanchier alnifolia is the winner for the warmer climate and clay. I hear it is hugely adaptable. The killer might be the chill requirement.
